NUCLEOLUS MALL

PROJECT DETAILS

Architecture & Interior Design Nucleus Mall For One Stop Shop Private Limited   Pune   India

New approaches to retailing and the mall culture have arrived and are now an integral part of India’s consumer landscape.  Yet, in many ways, the architecture required for such spaces has not matured in this part of the world.  KIPA was called upon to deliver a cutting-edge, world class design.

The site is extremely linear and fronted on three sides by roadways.  The design connects the streets both visually and in terms of circulation through a series of interconnecting atriums.  These allow a person to enter from any street and easily reach any point in the building.

Nucleus  is a fully functional and aesthetically pleasing building that has opened new avenues into mall architecture in India and has become one of Pune’s most widely recognized and enjoyed locations in Pune.

Glass in its varied forms is used to create the building skins.  Glass block, clear glass, coated and treated glass were used in response to climatic concerns, functional relationships, and to create a dramatic variation that enhances the building forms.

Challenges in terms of program, site, and services were looked at separately while maintaining overall design parameters.
